ABOUT DATO

Business experience.
New intelligence.

We connect the data businesses create with the companies building what comes next.

OUR PURPOSE

A considered path
to data’s next use.

Dato buys eligible datasets from established businesses, de-identifies and prepares them, and licenses them to hyperscalers and AI companies.

We focus on businesses with at least three years of operating history and more than ten employees. These thresholds begin the conversation; the value and suitability of a dataset depend on its contents, quality, rights and intended use.

THE EXPERTISE BEHIND DATO

Experienced people.
Careful preparation.

Our team brings 10+ years of data-cleaning experience, with data scientists and PhDs helping guide how we prepare and protect data.

That expertise informs our approach to data quality, de-identification and security safeguards. We assess each dataset’s risks and apply appropriate preparation methods and protections before licensing.

Security requires ongoing care. De-identification helps reduce privacy risk, but cannot guarantee that re-identification is impossible.

OUR APPROACH

Potential, with perspective.

01 / RIGHTS FIRST

Permission matters.

Owning a database does not necessarily grant the right to sell or license every record. We assess ownership, contracts, permissions and restrictions before proceeding.

02 / PRIVACY BY DESIGN

Reduce exposure.

Preparation may include removing direct identifiers, aggregation and other techniques appropriate to the dataset. Residual re-identification risk requires assessment; no technique is an absolute guarantee.

03 / DEFINED USE

Clarity in the agreement.

Permitted uses, access, onward licensing, retention and restrictions on re-identification belong in the contract. Terms are reviewed for each transaction.

Good data starts
with good questions.

What does the dataset describe? How was it collected? Who has rights to it? What might it reveal when combined with other information?

We work through these questions before a purchase. We may decline a dataset where rights are unclear, privacy risks are too high, or suitability cannot be established.

Privacy & data use

Start with a conversation.

Inquiry forms collect your name, work email, company, phone number, employee count, operating history and the information you choose to share so Dato can assess and respond to your inquiry. Do not submit datasets, personal information about others, confidential records, or sensitive information.

Submissions are stored by the website operator. Dataset transfers, permitted uses, retention, security measures and licensing terms must be separately reviewed and agreed before any data is shared. De-identification reduces risk but cannot guarantee that re-identification is impossible.

Use the Contact form to request access, correction or deletion of inquiry information. Production hosting, retention periods and any service providers should be reviewed and documented by the operator before launch.
